Join us for an evening of short analogue films

Tuesday Feb 25
2 Kerr St, Fitzroy, VIC, AU>

Practicing filmmaker-members of Artist Film Workshop will present recent 16mm or 8mm films made in the Melbourne AFW lab or Nanolab in Daylesford. To varying degrees these filmmakers are involved in international and local DIY labs, festivals, film projects, and self-driven film based initiatives or collaborations. The array of work produced by the AFW filmmakers includes art film, documentary, experimental film, narrative shorts, or cameraless films. Some members exhibit with film as medium locally and around the world.

We are excited to present a small program of our own films before we kick off our screening program for 2020.
Our screening program is built upon films from the National Film and Sound Archive and spontaneous co-presentations throughout the year. Often this includes whatever we can coerce from our filmmaker friends presenting in the same international festival programs that Richard and Dianna screen at and schlep home with.

Confirmed AFW filmmakers:
- Dianna Barrie
- Hanna Chetwin
- Paddy Hay
- Carl Looper
- Sabina Maselli
- Richard Tuohy
- Melody Woodnutt

Booze at the door for $5

Entry $7 for general public / $5 for AFW members / free if you want to attend but are very poor.

Artist Film Workshop (AFW) is an artist collective and not-for-profit organisation which provides access to knowledge and resources for filmmakers and artists in Melbourne. AFW holds regular screenings and workshops for people interested in film or working with sound and vision.

AFW is located at 2 Kerr St, Fitzroy. We have a darkroom for film processing and a dry lab for editing and post production. The workshop maintains a 16mm contact printer, and optical printer with custom-made electronics, 16mm and 8mm cameras, projectors and a screening space..
